Piet Besteman: “A Haiku in wood”. After a technical education and finally masters for architecture Piet Besteman worked thirty years as an architect. By making the complex buildings from scratch to its final shape he explored the many possibilities of material and construction. The fascination of binding seventeen pieces of wood to a chair was the starting point for the VOYAGE.

The chamfer between back and seat opens the way to a simple structure and to a new approach of sitting. The frame of wooden slats forms a beam at the rear and unites the stability with an easy seat. The central pillow coincides with the chamfer and supports the lower back. The “active seat” in combination with the horizontal pillows as well the “running” effect of the slats gives the chair a dynamic character. The diamond pattern of the Underground District Gold makes this impression even stronger.
